Service Engineer – Elevator (UAE)

About the role
We are seeking a proactive and dependable Service Engineer to support inspection, service, maintenance, repair and modernization of marine elevator systems on board seagoing vessels and offshore facilities. The role combines strong hands‑on technical capability with practical field judgement, safe working practices and professional customer interaction.
Key responsibilities
- Perform annual, periodic and technical inspections of marine elevators.
- Carry out planned, preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, control and PLC faults.
- Execute repairs, adjustments, parts replacements, modernization works and major repairs.
- Perform heavy field jobs such as travelling cable replacement, wire rope renewal and suspension‑related repairs.
- Remove and install cables, route, terminate and test multiple cores accurately.
- Support wire rope renewal activities including inspection, load testing and verification.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical drawings, schematics and service documentation.
- Maintain clear service reports, inspection findings and customer communication notes.
- Coordinate with technical, operations, project management, service partners and vessel crew for job planning and execution.
Required profile
- Diploma or degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or Mechanical engineering; elevator engineering qualification is a plus.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in elevator service, troubleshooting, repairs and inspection.
- Fluent English (written and spoken); additional regional languages advantageous.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work non‑standard hours based on vessel schedules.
- Medically fit for offshore assignments, work at height and confined spaces.
- Valid passport, short‑notice travel ability and a light motor vehicle driving licence.
Required skills
- Hands‑on experience with traction elevators; multi‑brand exposure preferred.
- Experience with marine elevators, rack‑and‑pinion or Alimak systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulic elevators and escalators.
- Understanding of elevator components, controllers, inverter drives, safety circuits and suspension systems.
- Proficiency in travelling cable replacement and wire rope renewal procedures.
- Ability to read technical drawings, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Familiarity with marine HSE requirements, permit controls and work‑at‑height practices.
- Competence with Google Workspace and modern productivity tools.
