Shipping Accounting Manager

About the role

The Shipping Accounting Manager will lead the financial accounting for a fleet of tankers, ensuring accurate vessel‑wise reporting, voyage profitability analysis and strict OPEX control. The role works closely with chartering, operations and technical teams to maintain compliance with IFRS and internal marine accounting policies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain voyage‑wise accounting, record income and expenses, and produce profitability reports.
• Account for freight income, demurrage, dispatch and hire payments, verifying Statement of Facts and laytime calculations.
• Monitor daily vessel operating expenses, compare OPEX budgets to actuals, and manage crew wages, stores, insurance and repairs.
• Process and verify port and marine charges invoices, coordinating with agents and authorities.
• Handle charter party accounting, including hire payments, bunker adjustments and off‑hire deductions.
• Manage bunker fuel accounting, reconcile supplier invoices with delivery notes and monitor onboard fuel inventory.
• Oversee cargo and freight accounting, track receivables, and settle vendor and agent payments.
• Prepare monthly and yearly financial statements, MIS reports and support internal/external audits.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in shipping or marine accounting.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, marine accounting policies and internal controls.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams in chartering, operations and technical departments.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
