Site Mechanical Engineer - Healthcare Projects

About the role

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Site Mechanical Engineer to manage and implement mechanical systems on healthcare projects. The role covers supervision of installation, testing and commissioning, ensuring compliance with design specifications, health and safety regulations and industry standards, and contributes to the delivery of major construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise on-site installation of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing and fire protection.
• Ensure works comply with project specifications, approved drawings and codes such as ASHRAE, NFPA and local building codes.
• Inspect sites for quality and safety, and monitor progress to keep mechanical works on schedule.
• Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors and consultants, and review shop drawings, method statements and material submittals.
• Provide technical support at site meetings and ensure installations are tested, commissioned and operational before handover.
• Help prepare daily and weekly reports, liaise with authorities on permits and regulations, and ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10 to 12 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare-specific mechanical systems and healthcare projects.
• Experience supervising mechanical installations and reviewing drawings and specifications.
• Ability to manage site activities, coordinate with multiple disciplines and resolve issues quickly.
• Membership in a professional engineering body (e.g. ASHRAE, IMechE) preferred; FIDIC or similar contract experience a plus.
