Software Engineer I - Backend

About the role

As a Software Engineer I – Backend at Talabat, you will work alongside engineers, product, and data teams to continuously discover customer and business needs. You will design, develop, and release end‑to‑end software solutions that address those needs, delivering value in small, high‑quality batches.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional team members to identify and prioritize business problems.
• Design, code, test, and deploy backend services following Talabat’s engineering standards.
• Understand and manage the scalability and complexity of your services.
• Help improve team practices toward a self‑organized, continuously improving unit.
• Seek mentorship to grow into a product engineer capable of solving full‑stack business problems.

Required profile

• Empathetic and able to build relationships with other engineers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Humble, curious, open‑minded with a growth mindset and receptive to feedback.
• Foundational software engineering knowledge with some development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (preferred).

Required skills

• .NET, Golang, or C# programming languages.
• Automated end‑to‑end testing.
• Basic understanding of distributed systems architecture (microservices, event‑driven, RESTful services).
• Familiarity with relational and non‑relational databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
