Software Engineer II - Backend

About the role

talabat's DMart network spans 860+ dark stores and 31 distribution centres across eight MENA markets. It is launching a new domain out of its Dubai Global Tech Hub to bring intelligence to how the network operates: predicting demand, optimising stock movement and catching problems early. As a Software Engineer II - Backend, you will join a cross-functional team (engineering, product, data) and own the systems behind this domain end-to-end.

Key responsibilities

• Work in a cross-functional team on discovery, design, delivery and post-launch of the domain.
• Participate in continuous discovery of customer and business needs to drive desired outcomes.
• Design, write and release software in small batches according to engineering standards.
• Understand the scalability and complexity of the service and own and innovate the entire SDLC.
• Support optimisation of team practices so the team becomes self-organised and continuously improving.
• Critically question and simplify tech org systems, processes and solutions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in an Extreme Programming environment (TDD, pair programming, simple design, continuous refactoring).
• End-to-end ownership of a specific area or initiative, with empathy for users' pains and needs.
• Willingness to explore alternative ways of working that favour co-creation and continuous improvement.
• Good verbal and written communication, humble, curious and open-minded with a growth mindset.

Required skills

• Predominant languages.NET, Golang and C#.
• Testing with a focus on automated end-to-end quality.
• Distributed systems architecture (microservices, event-driven and RESTful services).
• Relational and non-relational databases; cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Trunk-based development and continuous delivery.
• Lean and agile values and practices.
