Sonographer - Vascular

About the role

The Vascular Sonographer will independently or under senior supervision perform all ultrasound imaging procedures, analyse the output and report findings as required. This role supports the radiology department in delivering high‑quality diagnostic images for vascular assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound imaging procedures following department policies, protocols and quality standards.
• Maintain sufficient inventory of supplies and equipment, report shortages and keep accurate ordering records.
• Evaluate image quality, ensure completeness, and forward images to radiologists for review.
• Recognise anatomy and pathology on cross‑sectional images, optimise scan protocols and liaise with radiologists for further testing.
• Ensure safe operation of radiology equipment, report incidents or faults promptly.
• Maintain a clean, tidy work environment, restock supplies and clean equipment after use.
• Provide technical advice to medical and technical staff on imaging techniques.
• Handle patient and staff enquiries professionally and document all interventions.
• Promote quality improvement, comply with safety, infection‑control and quality‑assurance programmes.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently or under supervision while adhering to departmental policies.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and vascular pathology.
• Attention to detail in image assessment and documentation.
• Professional communication skills with patients, families and medical personnel.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean and well‑stocked work environment.
