Specialist - Adult ICU

About the role

Fakeeh University Hospital in Dubai is hiring a Specialist in Adult ICU. The specialist performs assessment and management of critically ill patients in an evidence-based approach, in line with standards of care and the hospital's bylaws, policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Care for critically ill patients, including those with respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac emergencies and multi-system organ failure
• Take thorough initial assessments, formulate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans
• Perform and oversee invasive procedures such as intubation, central line placement and arterial catheterization, following sterile technique and safety protocols
• Monitor vital signs, lab results and clinical status, adjusting treatment plans with ICU nurses, respiratory therapists and other colleagues
• Collaborate with surgeons, pulmonologists, nephrologists and other specialists, and refer patients to other specialties when needed
• Prescribe medications and administer treatments within assigned clinical privileges
• Provide 24/7 inpatient coverage on a schedule set by the Department Chair or Section Head, and respond to inpatient consultations and outpatient referrals
• Complete discharge summaries, give hands-off handovers, explain procedures and obtain informed consent, and keep families informed where possible
• Maintain accurate medical records and conduct outpatient clinics as agreed

Required profile

• MD in Critical Care
• Minimum 4-6 years of post-specialization experience, with the last 3-4 years in a busy private hospital in the UAE
• Valid DHA license or eligibility as a Specialist Critical Care
• Experience in community engagement or CSR is valued
