Specialist Cardiology

About the role

SEHA Clinics in Al Ain is recruiting a Specialist Cardiology physician. The Specialist shares the Consultant's responsibility for delivering high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred care, acts as an example of clinical excellence in the Division, and contributes to the supervision and training of junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage administrative and managerial duties: support departmental policies and procedures, take part in performance management, peer review and productivity/utilization reviews, ensure adequate medical coverage, attend divisional meetings, report and investigate untoward incidents, and carry out other administrative or clinical duties asked by the Consultant.
• Diagnose and treat patients under the Consultant's supervision, lead ward rounds, review investigations regularly and modify treatment, document clearly and in time, and liaise with other specialties and support services.
• Prepare patients for procedures, obtain informed consent, accept clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, walk-in patients and other hospitals, and take part in out-of-hours on-call coverage on rotation.
• Take part in quality improvement, audit and incident reporting, and promote a team-based approach to care.
• Supervise and instruct junior medical staff, keep up with current literature and trends, and participate in clinical research and publication.

Required profile

• Tier 1: no additional experience after board certification.
• Tier 2: at least 2 years of clinical experience after qualification in an internationally accredited institute.
• Tier 3: at least 3 years of clinical experience as a Specialist after qualification in an internationally accredited institute.
• UAE nationals need no additional experience after board certification.
• UAE and non-UAE nationals enrolled in HAAD-accredited residency programmes need no experience after board certification.
