Specialist Commissioning Electrical

About the role

Penspen is urgently hiring a Specialist Commissioning Electrical to support an offshore PMC project in Abu Dhabi. The role provides hands‑on technical and field support for electrical pre‑commissioning, commissioning, testing, energisation and start‑up of offshore oil & gas electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical support for electrical pre‑commissioning, commissioning, testing, energisation, functional verification, troubleshooting and start‑up.
• Ensure electrical systems are safely tested and verified according to procedures, specifications, HSE requirements and client standards.
• Perform and coordinate pre‑commissioning activities, verify installations against drawings, conduct visual inspections and check cable terminations, panel and switchgear readiness.
• Carry out electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, high‑voltage withstand/dielectric testing and functional verification.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 15 + years of experience, with at least 5‑8 + years in offshore oil & gas projects.
• Proven experience in offshore electrical commissioning, preferably with PMC/EPC background.
• Previous ADNOC offshore experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Electrical distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, motor control centres (MCC), motors, VFDs, UPS and protection systems.
• HV/MV/LV switchgear, emergency power systems and high‑voltage testing.
• Insulation resistance, continuity and dielectric testing.
• Ability to read single‑line, schematic, wiring diagrams, cable schedules and equipment datasheets.
