Specialist, Internal Medicine

About the role

The Specialist in Internal Medicine provides comprehensive, evidence‑based care to adult patients across inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation and long‑term care settings. Working within multidisciplinary teams, the physician ensures continuity of care, manages complex chronic conditions and contributes to high‑quality patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions in adults.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized treatment plans and monitor progress.
• Manage complex chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and respiratory disorders.
• Provide specialized care for patients in rehabilitation, long‑term and post‑acute settings.
• Coordinate care with specialists, allied health professionals, nursing and rehabilitation staff.
• Interpret laboratory results, imaging studies and other diagnostic tests.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to patient care plans.
• Offer preventive health advice and patient education.
• Respond to medical emergencies and acute clinical deteriorations.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with safety, infection control and quality initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a recognized residency in Internal Medicine.
• Specialist qualification recognized by the Department of Health (DOH), Abu Dhabi.
• Valid DOH license for Internal Medicine specialists.
• 3–5 years of post‑specialization experience in Internal Medicine.
• Proven experience in managing complex medical and chronic disease cases.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to evidence‑based, patient‑centered care.
