Specialist - Ophthalmology

About the role

The Hospital seeks an Ophthalmology Specialist to deliver eye care that meets Department of Health (DoH) standards. The role involves daily monitoring of clinical quality, participation in case reviews, and providing after‑hours consultation.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure ophthalmological care complies with DoH standards and internal quality guidelines.
• Review and study difficult or special cases, providing expert input.
• Coordinate with the Head of Department (HOD) to plan and implement curative and preventive eye‑care programs.
• Teach nursing and ancillary staff, orient new staff, and participate in committees as requested by the Medical Director.
• Adhere strictly to infection‑control, patient‑safety, and other medical regulations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience at specialist level (independent of country).
• At least 1 year specialist experience in a Tier 1 country recognized by the UAE healthcare regulator.
• Basic medical degree plus a recognized specialty qualification/fellowship/diploma.
• Eligibility for registration with the relevant UAE healthcare authority (e.g., Royal College, Arab Board, MS/DM/MPhil).

Required skills

• Active, valid life‑support certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP).
• Certification and registration in ophthalmology recognized by UAE health authorities.
