Specialist Physician – Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

About the role

The Specialist Physician shares responsibility with the Consultant Physician for delivering high-quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centered care in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry division.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, take histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Prescribe and administer appropriate medication, therapy, and perform necessary procedures related to the specialty.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, consult other specialists, and ensure holistic patient care.
• Document clinical information accurately and timely in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and research activities.
• Provide supervision, instruction, and mentorship to junior medical staff, residents, and students.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent degree from a recognized medical school.
• Completed residency or fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
• 2–3 years of post‑specialization clinical experience.
• Valid DOH Abu Dhabi license or eligibility letter, and current license from last practice country.
• Certificate of Good Standing from the relevant licensing authority.
• Fluency in English and Arabic; additional languages are an asset.

Required skills

• Prescribing and managing psychiatric medication.
• Performing psychiatric assessments and therapeutic procedures.
