Spent Fuel Management Manager

About the role

The Spent Fuel Management Manager will lead the development and execution of ENEC’s spent fuel management program. This includes overseeing storage beyond current capacity, licensing strategies, technology selection, procurement and disposal initiatives in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and develop the Spent Fuel Management Program for storage beyond current capacity at Barakah, defining scope, schedule, milestones and cost.
• Monitor program performance, manage technical, licensing and schedule risks, and ensure effective mitigation.
• Coordinate internal stakeholders to align all program elements and support the Radioactive Waste Management and NEBEP Director in updating program plans.
• Lead engagement with FANR to develop and implement licensing strategies for dry storage facilities and oversee licensing documentation.
• Evaluate and select dry storage technologies (e.g., cask systems) ensuring safety, operational and lifecycle compliance.
• Support procurement processes, including technical specifications, vendor evaluation and contract oversight.
• Manage projects related to spent fuel disposal, ensuring compliance with regulatory and stakeholder requirements.
• Engage with ENEC Operations to define spent fuel inventory and incorporate changes from front‑end and Barakah operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing nuclear fuel storage or related programs.
• Familiarity with regulatory licensing processes and interaction with nuclear authorities.
• Ability to evaluate and select technical solutions such as dry storage cask systems.
• Experience in procurement, vendor assessment and contract technical oversight.
• Strong project management skills with the capability to monitor risks and deliver on schedule.
• Effective coordination with multi‑disciplinary internal stakeholders.
