Staff Full-Stack Engineer

About the role

April is seeking a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to shape the future of its tax platform. You will design and build scalable systems that enable fast, reliable user experiences for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional engineering initiatives from design through deployment, ensuring quality and scalability.
• Participate in technical decision‑making and share knowledge across multiple teams.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and other stakeholders to deliver seamless, data‑driven experiences.
• Evaluate and introduce new tools, technologies, and practices that raise engineering standards.
• Model service ownership, observability, and operational best practices.
• Promote a culture of clean code, testing, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years at senior, staff, or principal level.
• Proven experience designing and building distributed systems at scale in cloud‑native environments (GCP or AWS).
• Deep expertise in backend technologies such as microservices, event‑driven architectures, and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Strong hands‑on experience with modern front‑end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) and full‑stack engineering practices.
• Fluency in system design, balancing scalability, performance, and developer experience.
• Track record of shaping technical direction and elevating team capabilities.
• Passion for building high‑impact, data‑rich customer‑facing products.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to influence cross‑functionally.
