Staff Nurse - CathLab

About the role

Staff Nurse – CathLab provides direct patient care during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in a high‑acuity environment. The role involves monitoring, medication administration, and supporting physicians throughout procedures such as angiography, angioplasty and device implantation.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients before cardiac and vascular procedures, verify identity, consent and medical history.
• Assist physicians during coronary angiography, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies and other interventional procedures.
• Continuously monitor hemodynamic status, ECG, vital signs and level of consciousness throughout the procedure.
• Administer medications and moderate sedation according to protocol and physician orders.
• Maintain a sterile field, apply aseptic techniques and ensure radiation safety.
• Monitor patients during recovery, assess access sites and manage complications such as bleeding or arrhythmias.
• Document care promptly, use the Malaffi system and apply early‑warning scoring tools to identify deterioration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or Associate degree from Canada/USA with NCLEX‑RN or Canadian licensing exam).
• Valid DOH license or eligibility.
• Minimum two years of clinical experience post‑qualification in a cardiac or interventional setting.

Required skills

• Hemodynamic and ECG monitoring.

• Vascular access and device deployment.
• Sterile technique and radiation safety practices.
• Use of health‑information system Malaffi.
• Early warning scoring and rapid response to complications.
