Staff Physician, Obesity Medicine

About the role

The Staff Physician in Obesity Medicine will join the Digestive Disease department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. This full‑time position focuses on diagnosing, preventing, and treating obesity‑related conditions, providing direct patient care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients within the Digestive Disease – Obesity Medicine specialty.
• Prescribe medication, therapy, and specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness.
• Analyze records, reports, and test results to establish diagnoses.
• Gather comprehensive patient histories and discuss procedures, test results, and treatment plans.
• Perform specific treatments and, when required, surgical procedures.
• Document patient encounters and coordinate referrals to other healthcare professionals.
• Collaborate with medical and non‑medical staff to ensure high‑quality, culturally sensitive care.
• Participate in administrative duties such as committees, task forces, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to ethical, regulatory, and institutional policies and clinical privileges.

Required profile

• MD, MBBS, MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
• Completion of Internal Medicine qualification as per the recognized specialty certificate table (2024).
• Minimum of 2 years post‑qualification experience for Tier 1 physicians or 5 years for Tier 2 physicians.
• Valid medical license/registration in the home country or country of last employment.
• Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are preferred.
