Structural Engineer - Steel Detailing and Drafting

About the role

Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory (ASMEF), a marine and oil & gas engineering yard in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, is looking for an experienced Structural Designer to support its Design and Engineering Department. You will develop accurate structural drawings and design deliverables for engineering and fabrication projects, working closely with structural engineers, project teams, clients and design subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare structural drawings, layouts, fabrication drawings and other design deliverables in line with project requirements.
• Develop and modify 2D drawings and 3D structural models using engineering design software.
• Interpret engineering drawings, design calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Prepare and update structural steel detailing drawings, including beams, columns, bracing, connections and support structures.
• Review drawings and models for dimensional accuracy and compliance with project specifications, and incorporate design changes while maintaining document control.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, consultants and subcontractors on design queries.
• Support material take-offs and bills of materials where required, and assist with technical queries and drawing discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate records of drawings, revisions and design documentation, and clarify drawings for fabrication and construction teams.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant technical qualification.
• Relevant experience in structural design, steel detailing and drafting, preferably in oil & gas, EPC, fabrication or industrial projects.
• Experience with structural steel fabrication drawings is an advantage.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, Tekla Structures or other 3D structural modelling software.
• Structural detailing or steel connection design software, where applicable.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong technical drafting skills and attention to detail.
