Structural Inspector (Steel) - Site

About the role

A Structural Inspector (Steel) is needed on site in Dubai to inspect steel fabrication and erection works against approved drawings, project specifications and quality standards. The role covers layout, fit-up, final inspection, dimension checks and weld visual inspection of columns, beams, arches, purlins, trusses and bracings, and supports the project quality control and assurance team.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor materials incorporated in the works and inspect site works against contract drawings, specifications and good engineering practice.
• Inspect steel fabrication and erection, review welding, bolting and other connections, and witness onsite testing required by the contract, ITP or project requirements.
• Verify and trace all incoming and installed steel components.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors and project teams, and carry out regular site inspections, audits and quality checks.
• Document non-conformities, prepare inspection reports and follow up on corrective actions.
• Ensure steel works comply with safety regulations, environmental requirements and project guidelines.
• Support the quality control and assurance team, attend meetings and update them on progress, quality issues and risks.
• Review contractor method statements, inspection plans and welding procedures; prepare site measurements and surveying checks when requested by the client or steel leads.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• At least 8 years of experience in construction supervision in a consultancy.
• Understanding of business plan, mission and key challenges, and willingness to contribute to company procedures and task groups.
• Knowledge of health, safety and quality policies, including the 9E QHSE policies, and ability to report QHSE incidents immediately.

Required skills

• Concept design, buildability, detailed design, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk and claim assessment.
• CAD standards and 3D working.
• Welding, bolting and steel connection inspection.
