Subsea Engineer 2

About the role

Stena Drilling is recruiting a Subsea Engineer 2. The role covers supervision and maintenance of subsea equipment such as the blowout preventer, risers and running and retrieving tools, keeping records and ensuring compliance with class and API requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the assembly, operation, maintenance, testing and disconnection of the subsea blowout preventer, marine riser and related equipment.
• Maintain and repair heave compensating equipment, and maintain subsea running and retrieving tools while supervising their use.
• Keep planned maintenance up to date and signed off according to the maintenance schedule, and enter all modifications, breakdowns and maintenance in the Maximo system.
• Ensure stock levels are adequate and that equipment conforms to the vessel's class and applicable API requirements.
• Advise the Senior Subsea Engineer / Subsea Engineer of impending downtime or equipment failure, and consult them on the operations forecast.
• Calculate ton cycles for tensioner wires where applicable, implement and record the slip and cut programme, and record riser usage per well.
• Prepare BOP test reports and stay aware of contract and re-bill arrangements for subsea equipment.
• Keep Level 2 procedures and Level 5 RSWMs up to date in line with SMS, and take part in operational, pre-job safety and weekly safety meetings.
• Be responsible for the safety of personnel under your direction, complete a documented end-of-tour handover, and follow the Operator's Instructions and Drilling Programme.

Required profile

• IWCF Well Control Certificate.
• Industry-recognised engineering qualifications.
• Previous experience as Assistant Subsea Engineer and with similar subsea systems.
• Ability to read technical drawings.
• Self-motivated.
