Superintendent HSE – Shipping

About the role

The Superintendent HSE – Shipping provides leadership and guidance to ADNOC Logistics & Services' fleet vessels, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environment (HSE) are maintained across all maritime operations. This senior role drives continuous improvement of safety management systems and supports the company’s commitment to sustainable shipping.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Safety Management System (SMS) with practical, accurate procedures.
• Ensure fleet vessels comply with legal and voluntary HSE requirements and monitor corrective actions.
• Lead accident/incident investigations, perform root‑cause analysis, and oversee implementation of corrective measures.
• Arrange and conduct integrated internal audits for ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 55001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Assist in preparing the HSE budget and reviewing marine contracts related to HSEQ activities.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to ship masters and crew on regulatory and voluntary compliance matters.
• Participate in the Incident Management Team and support candidate interviews for HSE positions.
• Oversee vessel induction and de‑commissioning, and verify closure of inspections such as SIRE, PSC and flag surveys.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in HSE management within maritime or shipping environments.
• Strong knowledge of international maritime safety conventions and standards.
• Ability to conduct thorough investigations and produce clear, actionable reports.
• Experience in budgeting, contract review, and internal audit planning.
• Excellent communication skills for mentoring ship personnel and liaising with compliance departments.
