Survey & Track Inspector – High-Speed Rail Project

About the role

The Survey & Track Inspector will conduct site surveys, setting‑out of civil works and inspect permanent way and track works for the PMEC High‑Speed Rail Project, a double‑track railway linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The role ensures all works meet design, specification and safety standards from construction through to handover.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct surveys and setting‑out for civil works, establishing control points, benchmarks and reference grids.
• Verify alignment, levels and dimensions of constructed works against project standards.
• Inspect permanent way and track components, including rail, sleepers, fastenings, ballast or slab track, and verify geometry.
• Attend and witness track‑related testing such as geometry checks, rail welding and gauge verification.
• Support testing, commissioning and handover documentation, including as‑built records.
• Raise and track non‑conformance reports, complete inspection checklists and maintain accurate quality records.
• Liaise with engineering, construction and QA/QC teams to coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with standards.

Required profile

• Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years’ experience in survey, inspection or site supervision, with at least 2–3 years on railway projects.
• Strong background in railway surveying or track/permanent way inspection, with knowledge of track geometry and construction quality procedures.
• Ability to work accurately in a high‑speed rail construction environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with surveying instruments: total stations, GNSS, digital levels, track geometry trolleys.
• Experience using Leica or Trimble equipment.
• Competence in survey/CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
