Sustaining Engineering Supervisor

About the role

The Sustaining Engineering Supervisor leads sustaining engineering activities within Vertiv’s busbar division, guiding a small team to enhance product quality, manufacturability and operational performance. This role blends technical leadership, cross‑functional collaboration and hands‑on problem solving in an engineered‑to‑order environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sustaining engineering activities, prioritising technical issues, design updates and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Provide day‑to‑day guidance, coaching and development for a team of engineers.
• Partner with manufacturing, quality, supply‑chain and operations to resolve design‑related production issues.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and implement corrective actions to improve product quality and manufacturability.
• Oversee engineering change activities, including BOM updates, drawing revisions and release accuracy.
• Apply manufacturing‑process knowledge to support design‑for‑manufacturability improvements and reduce recurring issues.
• Support new product introduction to ensure smooth transition into production.
• Participate in interview and selection processes for engineering talent.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in product design, sustaining engineering or manufacturing design support.
• Strong experience in 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Proven ability to lead technical problem‑solving and drive issues to resolution.
• Experience with design‑for‑manufacturability, root‑cause analysis and engineering change processes.
• Familiarity with bills of material, drawing revisions and product lifecycle management systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
