Tax Litigation Manager

About the role

The Tax Litigation Manager will lead the management of complex UAE tax disputes, focusing on Federal Tax Authority (FTA) assessments, penalties, reconsiderations, TDRC proceedings and court litigation. This senior position requires deep knowledge of the UAE Tax Procedures framework and proven experience handling tax controversy from audit to resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and procedural advice on UAE tax dispute and litigation matters, including highly contentious cases.
• Lead the full tax dispute lifecycle: respond to FTA audits, challenge assessments and penalties, prepare reconsideration applications, and manage TDRC proceedings.
• Oversee tax litigation before UAE courts, coordinating with external legal counsel on strategy, submissions and evidence.
• Prepare and review technical submissions, position papers, FTA correspondence and court materials.
• Ensure compliance with procedural requirements, statutory deadlines and limitation periods.
• Assess tax dispute exposures, develop risk‑mitigation and remediation strategies, and advise stakeholders on possible outcomes.
• Monitor changes in UAE tax legislation, FTA practices, TDRC decisions and court judgments, and evaluate their impact.
• Maintain reporting and governance of the tax controversy portfolio, tracking financial exposure, case status and key deadlines.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years (60 months) of experience managing UAE tax disputes and litigation.
• Strong technical knowledge of the UAE Tax Procedures framework and FTA processes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex tax controversy cases, including audits, penalties, reconsiderations and court proceedings.
• Excellent analytical, drafting and stakeholder‑management skills.
