Technical Assistant – Terminal Maintenance

About the role

The Technical Assistant supports the safe and reliable operation of the terminal by assisting with preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, testing and repair of mechanical equipment. It is a position for a junior technician to build practical mechanical maintenance skills under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers, with responsibilities growing as competence and performance are demonstrated.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance of pumps, valves, piping systems, loading arms, firefighting equipment and other terminal mechanical assets.
• Support equipment inspections, basic troubleshooting, repairs, testing and reinstatement under technical supervision.
• Follow approved maintenance procedures, work instructions, Permit to Work (PTW), isolation requirements and HSSE standards.
• Help prepare tools, spare parts, materials and equipment needed for maintenance.
• Record inspection findings, defects, maintenance activities, spare parts used and test results.
• Support maintenance planning by giving accurate work progress and completion information.
• Help prepare maintenance work instructions and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for review and approval.
• Maintain good housekeeping and care for workshop equipment and tools.
• Take part in technical training, competency assessments, toolbox talks and continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology or a related mechanical discipline.
• Fresh graduates and candidates with apprenticeship or industrial training experience are encouraged to apply.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment, maintenance practices and workshop tools.
• Exposure to pumps, valves, piping or rotating and static equipment is an advantage.
• Previous experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, industrial maintenance or storage terminals is desirable.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
