Technical Pre-Sales Engineer - Servers & Storage

About the role

A client in Abu Dhabi is looking for an experienced Technical Pre-Sales Engineer (Servers & Storage) to lead the server and storage side of its enterprise IT solutions. You will be the main technical expert for servers and storage throughout the sales process, designing solutions, calculating system requirements, preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supporting customer proposals. The role is on-site.

Key responsibilities

• Understand customer business requirements, workloads, infrastructure constraints and future growth, then design server and storage solutions covering platform selection, storage architecture, sizing, performance, redundancy and connectivity.
• Integrate server and storage designs with the customer's virtualization, backup/DR and data centre environment, and perform capacity planning, workload sizing, performance analysis and configuration validation.
• Visit sites and assess infrastructure, including government and defence facilities, and compare OEM platforms to recommend the most suitable and commercially competitive solution.
• Prepare high-level and low-level designs, solution architectures, technical specifications and BOMs, and write technical responses to RFPs, RFQs, tenders and compliance sheets.
• Support the sales team in meetings, presentations, negotiations and clarifications, and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops and PoCs.
• Work with OEMs, distributors and partners to build technically sound solutions, and coordinate with implementation and delivery teams so solutions are feasible and well scoped.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 5-10 years of experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in enterprise servers and storage; OEM certifications (e.g. HPE, Dell, NetApp, Nutanix, Pure Storage, Veeam) are an advantage.

Required skills

• Enterprise servers: rack and blade servers, CPU/memory/IO sizing, firmware, compatibility and interoperability.
• Enterprise storage: SAN, NAS, unified storage, all-flash and hybrid architectures.
• Storage technologies: RAID, snapshots, replication, tiering, deduplication, compression and performance optimization.
• Storage connectivity: Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NVMe-oF, zoning, multipathing and storage fabric design.
• High availability: redundancy, clustering concepts and resilience design.
• Working knowledge of VMware and Hyper-V, backup and DR, Windows Server and Linux, and data centre infrastructure.
