Technical Support Engineer - Electric Vehicles

About the role

Al-Futtaim Automotive is building a pool of talent for a Technical Support Engineer position in Abu Dhabi. The engineer provides advanced diagnostic and technical support for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, acting as a key contact for complex technical and electrical concerns, supporting service locations remotely and through field visits.

Key responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic support for complex technical and electrical vehicle concerns and validate reported issues, recommending suitable repair solutions.
• Deliver remote technical assistance to service teams and conduct field visits when hands-on support is needed.
• Prepare and submit detailed technical and quality reports, and follow up on cases until resolved.
• Escalate unresolved or critical issues to the relevant stakeholders.
• Analyse failed components and coordinate their submission for further investigation.
• Coach technicians on the job to support quality repairs and Fix It Right performance.
• Ensure the availability of technical literature, service bulletins, software-update equipment and special tools, and support teams in using modern diagnostic and repair methods.

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• At least six years of experience in automotive service and repair, including a minimum of three years as a Master Technician in dealer service operations or an equivalent environment.
• Extensive EV training may be considered; IMI Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Level 3 or 4 certification is an advantage.

• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems and onboard diagnostic systems.
