Technical Support Engineer – Entry Level

About the role

The Technical Support Engineer will deliver high‑quality technical assistance to learners, staff and faculty at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University. This entry‑level position involves both on‑site and remote support, as well as administration of key server applications and occasional technical training.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑level technical support to users face‑to‑face or remotely using appropriate tools.
• Log, follow up and close support tickets in a timely manner.
• Support external and internal events – gather requirements, prepare, test and provide on‑site assistance.
• Administer servers and applications such as Active Directory, antivirus, backup and print services.
• Maintain hardware/software inventory and monitor audio‑video systems.
• Perform regular health checks and corrective actions on IT infrastructure.
• Deliver technical training sessions when required.
• Support desktop computers, printers, scanners and other end‑user devices.
• Participate in testing of applications, report bugs and collaborate with other IT sections.
• Assist special projects and report information‑security incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in a technical support role.
• ITIL V3 certification (preferred) and any additional certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, Apple) are a plus.
