Technician – Commissioning (Mechanical)

About the role

The Technician – Commissioning (Mechanical) will carry out mechanical commissioning activities safely and efficiently, meeting required quality standards and following instructions from Commissioning Engineers and Foremen. The role is based in Dubai and involves both indoor and outdoor work environments.

Key responsibilities

• Check mechanical systems and equipment installation before commissioning to ensure readiness and safety.
• Assist Commissioning Engineers and vendors during commissioning activities and modifications.
• Prepare equipment and systems for commissioning as instructed.
• Troubleshoot and modify mechanical equipment and systems when required.
• Handle disconnection, modification and removal of equipment, hoses, valves, pipes and mechanical components.
• Carry out equipment watch‑keeping and record operating parameters.
• Use test equipment and measuring instruments as required.
• Perform isolations and energizations as instructed by the Commissioning Engineer.
• Conduct line walks to verify system readiness and safety before commissioning.
• Participate in sea trials and operate equipment under supervision.
• Carry out first filling of equipment and systems under supervision.
• Support equipment/system operations during commissioning through to handover.

Required profile

• ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in shipyard, oil & gas, or a related industry.
• Experience in commissioning activities, preferably involving permits and LOTO procedures.
• Good knowledge of commissioning and pre‑commissioning activities.
• Ability to read and interpret method statements, procedures, specifications, drawings and engineering documentation.
• Basic computer knowledge / MS Office.
• Good English communication skills.
• Ability to work in Middle East summer conditions and perform site visits.
