Telephone Operator

About the role

The Telephone Operator provides essential guest communication support at a hotel, handling all inbound and outbound calls, messages and special requests to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Answer, record, log and process all guest calls, requests and concerns.
• Operate the telephone switchboard, manage wake‑up calls, call forwarding, conference calls and TDD relay calls.
• Provide guests with information, such as internet access instructions, and transfer technical issues to the provider’s support line.
• Monitor busy or unanswered lines, update callers on hold, and dispatch bell or valet staff when required.
• Maintain accurate message logs, activate/deactivate room message lights and ensure communications equipment is functional.
• Advise guests of any messages received and follow up to ensure satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, maintain professional appearance and protect confidential information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• No prior work experience required.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific license or certification required.
