Testing & Commissioning Engineer

About the role

Avanceon Office is seeking a Testing & Commissioning Engineer on a multi‑year contract basis. As a leading system integrator, Avanceon delivers integrated automation solutions that help industries control, improve and optimise their manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans to verify reliability and functionality of automation systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation issues, optimise system performance and minimise downtime.
• Conduct regular system maintenance, including upgrades, backups and configuration activities.
• Provide training and support to operations teams on proper use and maintenance of automation systems.
• Document all processes, configurations and changes related to automation systems.
• Prepare progress reports and root‑cause analysis documentation.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering, automation or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in automation as a PLC/RTU programmer and commissioning, preferably on water & wastewater, oil & gas or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, layout drawings and control‑panel schematics.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Capability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Required skills

• Programming and commissioning on PLC platforms such as Schneider M580, Rockwell Control & Compact Logix, Siemens S7‑300/400/1500, PCS‑7.
• Experience with SCADA systems including WinCC and WinCC OA.
• Familiarity with RTU hardware like TBOX.
• Knowledge of open communication protocols: Modbus Serial, Modbus RTU, BACnet MSTP, OPC, MQTT, DNP3.
• Control‑panel wiring and instrumentation expertise.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation and drawings.
• Competence with MS Office applications.
