Testing Engineer - Substation

About the role

The Testing Engineer will lead and supervise testing and commissioning activities for substation projects, ensuring all work is performed safely and in line with project specifications and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and supervise testing and commissioning activities for substation projects.
• Test HV/MV switchgear, transformers, CTs, PTs/VTs, circuit breakers, protection systems, control panels, batteries, chargers and auxiliary systems.
• Carry out protection relay testing, functional checks, interlocking checks, trip circuit supervision and control‑logic verification.
• Execute primary and secondary injection testing, insulation resistance, winding resistance, transformer ratio and polarity tests.
• Review testing procedures, drawings, specifications and test formats and coordinate activities with clients, consultants, contractors, OEMs and site teams.
• Identify testing issues, troubleshoot faults, coordinate corrective actions and ensure safety compliance.
• Prepare and maintain test reports, commissioning records, checklists, punch lists and hand‑over documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Relevant experience in substation testing and commissioning.
• Hands‑on experience with HV/MV substation equipment and protection systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues during testing.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Capability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
