Train Driver (Emiratized) – Trainee

About the role

The Trainee Driver program will develop candidates into the train drivers of the future, providing full theory and practical training. You will work independently, maintain high concentration, and assume a high level of responsibility for safety, emergency handling, and customer service while operating on a rotating 24/7 shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑level service performance while promoting safe working conditions on Etihad Rail DB infrastructure.
• Ensure safe, reliable and punctual train movements in normal and degraded conditions according to the Etihad Rail DB Safety Management System.
• Create and deliver training plans for new entrants and support their development.
• Identify, record and act on equipment faults and irregularities.
• Provide real‑time performance and safety updates to the Train Operations Supervisor.
• Liaise with customer facility staff to maintain safe and punctual operations.
• Maintain personal driver competence and carry out shunting and train preparation duties as required.
• Work within a flexible shift pattern as directed by the business.

Required profile

• Academic qualification: Bachelor’s degree or High School certificate.
• Knowledge of OHS standards, European Train Control System (ETCS) and competence management systems.
• Basic mechanical, electrical and pneumatic knowledge.
• Advanced written and verbal English skills.
• Good medical fitness and ability to pass a psychometric evaluation.
• Full UAE driving licence or ability to obtain competence.
• Analytical problem‑solving ability and competence in writing comprehensive reports.
• IT literacy.
