Transportation Manager

About the role

A leading retail organisation in the UAE is looking for an experienced Transportation Manager to lead its end‑to‑end transport and fleet function across a multi‑site distribution network. This is a strategic, department‑leadership position responsible for shaping transport strategy, driving performance and building a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the transport and fleet KPI framework, set targets and drive measurable improvements.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives and root‑cause analysis to enhance service, cost and efficiency.
• Develop annual transport budgets, capacity plans and align fleet resources with business growth, promotions and new store openings.
• Manage vehicle and material‑handling‑equipment (MHE) availability, maintenance contracts, schedules, lifecycle decisions and disposal.
• Oversee daily delivery operations across multiple distribution centres, ensuring on‑time, in‑full and damage‑free deliveries.
• Lead a team of 70+ drivers and transport coordinators, handling workforce planning, recruitment, attendance and performance management.
• Implement fleet technologies such as telematics, TMS, route optimisation, fuel‑management and maintenance systems.
• Develop and manage the 3PL strategy, including provider selection, contracting, SLAs and commercial negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with UAE and Abu Dhabi transport, fleet and driver regulations and drive safety performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a transport or fleet manager within a large retail or distribution environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large operational teams.
• Strong understanding of UAE transport regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience in budgeting, capacity planning and commercial negotiations with 3PL providers.
