Transportation Planner (UAE Nationals)

About the role

AECOM, a global infrastructure consulting firm, is hiring a Transportation Planner in Dubai for its Planning business group. The role works with community groups, government agencies, developers and elected officials to shape neighbourhood plans and long-range community plans, and is open to UAE nationals.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply government codes, ordinances and regulations, and initiate action to correct deficiencies or violations
• Assist with updating and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan, transportation plan and land development regulations
• Act as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers and elected officials in developing neighbourhood plans
• Review development applications such as plats, permits, site plans, variance requests and rezonings
• Conduct research in project areas and write and present formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence
• Identify community problems and opportunities that can be addressed through better planning, and develop long-range plans and strategies for economic and community development and efficient land use
• Evaluate the adequacy of community facilities and recommend priorities, schedules and funding sources for public improvements

Required profile

• UAE national with a family book
• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred
• Proven experience in transportation planning, urban planning or land use planning
• Experience reviewing and evaluating development applications, site plans, permits and rezoning requests
• Ability to engage with government agencies, developers, consultants and community stakeholders

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of transportation planning principles, land development regulations, zoning requirements and government policies
• Research, data analysis and strategic recommendation skills
• Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills
• Project management and organisational skills
• Knowledge of GIS and transportation modelling tools is advantageous
