Ultrasound Engineer

About the role

This Ultrasound Engineer position sits within the Ultrasound R&D business unit and covers several locations: Shanghai, Wuhan, Beijing, Shenzhen in China, and Seattle in the USA. The engineer develops imaging modes, signal paths and algorithms, tunes diagnostic ultrasound systems and works with product and clinical teams to meet imaging requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement new imaging modes, signal path architecture and algorithms.
• Tune diagnostic ultrasound systems for optimal image quality across a range of transducers and imaging features.
• Work with the electrical and mechanical teams on system integration and imaging contrast resolution improvement.
• Collaborate with product and clinical teams to understand imaging requirements and verify performance across transducers and applications.
• Develop functional imaging modes such as elastography, 3D/4D imaging and contrast agent imaging.
• Optimise system architecture and training methods for specific clinical applications and customer needs.
• Provide solutions based on ultrasound physics and imaging artifacts.

Required profile

• MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics or a related field; PhD preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in ultrasound research and/or product development.
• Experience with ultrasound beamforming, basic modes, sequence design and optimal acquisition.
• Experience in design, signal and image processing.
• AI and deep learning research experience is desired.

Required skills

• Programming in Python, C++ and MATLAB.
• Knowledge of ultrasound physics and imaging.
