Underwriting Officer (UAEN)

About the role

The Underwriting Officer will assess insurance applications, evaluate risks, and ensure compliance with underwriting policies. This role supports informed decision‑making and helps optimise the company’s risk exposure while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare underwriting recommendations with detailed justifications for senior management approval.
• Draft comprehensive underwriting reports for internal and external audiences.
• Engage with brokers, agents, and clients to gather underwriting information and clarify policy terms.
• Analyse claims data and underwriting trends to refine risk models.
• Research policy terms, industry regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Collect and evaluate applicant data to determine risk exposure, pricing, and eligibility.
• Support the development and enhancement of underwriting guidelines.
• Document underwriting decisions to facilitate audits and performance reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) are a plus.
• 0‑2 years of underwriting experience.
