Unit Head - Shari’a Assessment & Testing

About the role

The Unit Head – Shari’a Assessment & Testing leads the Shari’a compliance function for the ADIB Group, ensuring that all banking activities adhere to the resolutions, fatwas, and standards set by the Higher Shari’a Authority, the Internal Shari’a Supervisory Committee and the Central Bank of the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Shari’a Compliance Department in supervising the SAT unit and monitoring compliance with HSA and ISSC resolutions.
• Develop and implement the annual Shari’a Assessment and Testing plan, aligning it with internal policies and strategic objectives.
• Lead Shari’a monitoring and assurance reviews across the bank, using a risk‑based methodology and the GRC platform.
• Assess Shari’a non‑compliance risks, evaluate control effectiveness, and coordinate with business units and operational risk teams.
• Prepare detailed reports on Shari’a review and testing findings for senior committees and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years (120 months) of experience in Shari’a compliance, assessment, testing or internal Shari’a audit within Islamic banking.
• Strong knowledge of AAOIFI Shari’a standards, Islamic commercial jurisprudence and relevant UAE regulations.
• Proven ability to develop risk‑based assessment plans and produce comprehensive compliance reports.
