Welding Superintendent (P/L)

About the role

The Welding Superintendent will lead all structural, piping and pipeline welding activities on offshore barges and vessels. This position ensures that welding operations meet project specifications, safety standards and quality requirements before and during offshore mobilization.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise welding activities on board vessels and at job sites, coordinating with supervisors, foremen, inspectors and third‑party NDT personnel.
• Identify personnel, equipment and consumable needs to satisfy project requirements prior to mobilization.
• Conduct welding trials, qualify welding procedures and train welders and operators offshore.
• Implement QA/QC welding procedures and maintain valid welder qualifications.
• Lead toolbox talks, promote safety awareness and ensure a safe working environment.
• Oversee setup, bevelling and clamping of welding equipment, verifying correct settings.
• Monitor consumption of electrodes, shielding gases and flux, reporting shortfalls and requesting replenishment.
• Coordinate with client, third‑party and inspection teams on welding issues and troubleshoot problems to maintain progress.

Required profile

• Secondary School Certificate with a discipline‑specific technical qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven experience with offshore structural and pipeline welding projects.
