Workshop Engineer (Turbomachinery)

About the role

We are looking for a highly analytical and proactive Workshop Engineer specializing in turbomachinery to join our technical team at the KEZAD Free Zone facility in Abu Dhabi. The role bridges high‑level engineering theory with shop‑floor execution, driving product improvement and innovative processes for steam turbines, centrifugal compressors and pumps.

Key responsibilities

• Independently plan, budget, schedule and direct technical projects, major applications and tests.
• Ensure projects meet objectives within time, cost and resource constraints.
• Lead analytical, experimental and application programs aimed at product/system improvement and cost reduction.
• Expand and improve design documentation procedures and issue technical documentation.
• Review and approve design layouts and manufacturing drawings for assigned projects and shop orders.
• Perform advanced calculations using analytical and computer‑based methods, including finite‑element analysis (FEA) and solids modelling.
• Develop or utilise custom engineering software (FORTRAN, BASIC, C++ or commercial packages).
• Provide technical guidance to cross‑functional teams such as Application Engineering, Sales, Production and Service.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to manage complex engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Proven experience in turbomachinery components such as steam turbines, centrifugal compressors or pumps.
• Ability to translate engineering theory into practical shop‑floor solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for documentation and stakeholder updates.

Required skills

• Finite‑Element Analysis (FEA) and solids modelling.
• Advanced engineering calculations (analytical and computer‑based).
• Programming in FORTRAN, BASIC or C++ and development of custom engineering tools.
• Design review and approval of manufacturing drawings for turbomachinery projects.
• Project management of steam turbine, centrifugal compressor and pump applications.
