Workshop Manager - Fleet / Automobile / Heavy Equipment

About the role

Careers International is hiring an experienced Workshop Manager in Abu Dhabi to run workshop operations, fleet maintenance and preventive maintenance independently. The role covers multi-brand vehicle fleets and heavy equipment, with a focus on reducing downtime and improving efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day workshop operations for a fleet of multi-brand vehicles and heavy equipment
• Plan, implement and monitor a Preventive Maintenance Program for the entire fleet
• Keep vehicle and equipment downtime low through planned maintenance and timely repairs
• Optimize use of manpower, technicians, tools, spare parts and equipment
• Troubleshoot and supervise maintenance of heavy equipment such as shovels, forklifts and air compressors
• Monitor repair quality, maintenance schedules, job cards, spare parts usage and productivity
• Control maintenance costs while maintaining high operational standards
• Coordinate with operations, fleet, procurement and stores teams
• Manage the workforce of mechanics, technicians, helpers and supervisors
• Ensure safety standards, housekeeping and compliance with company procedures

Required profile

• Diploma in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical qualification
• At least 5 years of post-qualification experience independently handling automobile workshop or fleet maintenance
• Experience managing a multi-brand vehicle fleet
• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, heavy equipment repair, vehicle diagnostics and workshop management
• Good leadership skills and experience managing technicians and workshop staff
• Planning, coordination, reporting and cost-control skills
• Preference for UAE experience; a valid UAE driving licence is an added advantage
