Workshop Team Leader – Commercial Vehicles

About the role

The Workshop Team Leader will head a team of technicians responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining commercial vehicles. This position combines strong technical expertise with leadership to ensure safety, quality and timely service delivery while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain commercial vehicles, covering mechanical, electrical and air‑conditioning systems.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of technicians, enforcing safety, efficiency and quality standards.
• Handle complex technical issues using advanced diagnostic tools, preferably Volvo/Renault systems.
• Allocate jobs, prioritize repair tasks and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
• Conduct final inspections to ensure work complies with manufacturer and company standards.
• Communicate professionally with clients and service providers regarding technical issues, updates and solutions.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records in line with company policies and warranty procedures.
• Identify process gaps, propose improvements and drive operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with Volvo, Renault or similar heavy‑duty trucks.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, engine mechanics and HVAC for commercial vehicles.
• Proven leadership experience managing a technical team.
• Relevant technical certification (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent).
• Fluent in English; French is a plus, as are local West African languages.
• Ability to work under pressure and train junior staff.
