Accountant – Build Finance Function

About the role

This newly created Accountant position will lead the establishment of a finance function for a fast‑growing organisation in Abu Dhabi. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will design and implement best‑in‑class financial controls, reporting processes and governance frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and post journal entries across the balance sheet and profit & loss.
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring data integrity and timely reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, cash flow reports and petty cash reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, monitor debtor ageing and optimise cash collections.
• Support month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes and meet reporting deadlines.
• Develop budgets, forecasts and financial analyses to aid strategic decision‑making.
• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations and handle related filings.
• Prepare audit schedules and liaise with internal and external auditors.
• Continuously improve accounting systems, controls and internal policies.

Required profile

• Professional certification such as CMA or ACCA (preferred but not essential).
• Proven experience in a standalone accounting role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and UAE tax regulations.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial planning & analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
