Advisor – Safety, Health & Environment

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Advisor – Safety, Health & Environment to join its Abu Dhabi team. You will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive HSE management framework, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations and international best practices while promoting a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies, procedures and management systems aligned with UAE regulations and global standards.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
• Review and approve method statements, risk assessments and permit‑to‑work systems for full compliance.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near‑misses, perform root‑cause analysis and produce detailed reports with preventive recommendations.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, training sessions and awareness programmes across all organisational levels.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, performance metrics and compliance documentation for internal and regulatory reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HSE advisory or similar roles within large infrastructure or construction projects.
• Detail‑oriented, collaborative and able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UAE HSE regulations and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
• Experience with HSE management systems and risk‑assessment methodologies.
• Ability to conduct incident investigations and produce root‑cause analyses.
