Aircraft Structures Engineer

About the role

The Aircraft Structures Engineer (ASE) is responsible for supervising and monitoring all structures, paint and machining activities on Etihad Airways’ fleet during the shift. The role ensures that all repairs and assessments comply with OEM specifications and GCAA CAR 145 standards, maintaining the highest safety levels.

Key responsibilities

• Assess aircraft or engine reported damages and execute repairs according to OEM instructions and the Structure Repair Manual (SRM) or Component Maintenance Manual (CMM).
• Review and certify structural repairs performed by technicians, ensuring correct manuals and documents are used.
• Communicate with the Maintenance Control Centre for out‑of‑limits damages and coordinate corrective actions.
• Record and document all repairs and inspections using internal procedures.
• Lead the structures/paint/machining team during the shift, allocate workload and ensure availability of tooling and materials.
• Maintain a safe, clean and FOD‑free work environment and actively participate in the Safety and Quality Management Manual (SQMM) program.

Required profile

• Degree in Aeronautical, Structural or Mechanical Engineering (preferred) with 10 years aviation experience, or 15 years without a degree.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a team‑lead role.
• Formal training in aircraft structures/composites.
• Valid B1 Aircraft Maintenance License.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SRM, CMM and Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), especially for A350, B787, B777, A320 and A380 fleets.
• Ability to assess damage and certify repairs to OEM and GCAA standards.
• Experience leading structures, paint and machining teams during shift operations.
• Strong knowledge of GCAA CAR 145 maintenance approval processes.
