Assistant Accountant – Construction Projects

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to support our finance team in managing the financial aspects of large construction projects. The role involves handling day‑to‑day accounting tasks, monitoring project costs and ensuring accurate reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, expenses and profitability.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and project cost reports.
• Track subcontractor payments, invoices, retention amounts and payment certificates.
• Verify supplier and subcontractor invoices against contracts and purchase orders.
• Identify cost variances and maintain accurate records of project‑related financial transactions.
• Assist with cash‑flow forecasting and project financial planning.
• Reconcile bank accounts, supplier accounts and project accounts.
• Coordinate with project managers, procurement teams, suppliers and subcontractors on financial matters.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and applicable regulations; support audits and provide required documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Proven experience as an accountant, preferably within the construction or contracting industry.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of UAE VAT and construction accounting practices is an advantage.
