Assistant Production Manager

About the role

The Assistant Production Manager supports the production team in a high‑volume food manufacturing environment, ensuring safe, efficient and on‑time delivery of products while maintaining quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular risk assessments, investigate incidents and enforce safety protocols.
• Allocate resources, prioritize tasks and monitor daily production to meet delivery schedules.
• Plan staff schedules, lead performance appraisals, provide training and resolve conflicts.
• Identify and implement lean initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma) to improve yields and reduce waste.
• Perform hygiene and food‑safety audits, address non‑conformances and drive corrective actions.
• Track operational metrics, monitor equipment losses and coordinate maintenance to maximise uptime.
• Collaborate with menu development, supply chain and safety teams for product trials and schedule alignment.
• Control labour hours, reduce overtime and implement cost‑saving measures without compromising quality.
• Build a high‑performing team by fostering a positive culture and supporting career growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Food Science or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of supervisory experience in high‑volume FMCG or food manufacturing.
• Proven track record of applying lean manufacturing principles with measurable results.

Required skills

• Lean tools: 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma.
• Production management software and ERP systems.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Data analysis and KPI tracking.
