Assistant Professor – Architectural Engineering

About the role

The School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society at Heriot‑Watt University Dubai is seeking an Assistant Professor in Architectural Engineering. The role combines teaching, research and scholarship to support the university’s mission of delivering high‑quality, sustainability‑focused education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions in Architectural Engineering.
• Develop and update curriculum aligned with professional accreditation standards.
• Supervise student projects, theses and research work.
• Conduct and publish research in areas such as energy use, carbon emissions, building systems and sustainable design.
• Engage with industry partners and contribute to the Institute of Sustainable Built Environment’s research themes.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in Architectural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching at university level.
• Strong record of research publications in relevant fields.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of building systems, energy performance and sustainable design principles.
• Proficiency in engineering analysis and modelling relevant to architectural engineering.

What we offer

• Competitive salary of AED 280,000 – 320,000 per annum, inclusive of accommodation allowance.
