Assistant Resident Engineer (Civil/Sewerage)

About the role

The Assistant Resident Engineer (Civil / Sewerage) will support the Resident Engineer in managing daily utilities construction activities on a large‑scale project in Abu Dhabi. The role involves coordinating with government agencies, contractors and consultants to keep the programme on track and ensure accurate documentation of progress, hand‑over and final accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Report to and assist the Resident Engineer in supervising water and civil works.
• Act on behalf of the Resident Engineer during absences.
• Chair meetings with utilities agencies and other delegated gatherings.
• Coordinate activities with the construction supervision team.
• Review shop drawings, design proposals and method statements, preparing replies for the Resident Engineer.
• Liaise with Parsons design engineers to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain daily diaries and inspectors’ reports.
• Schedule resources with contractor engineers.
• Direct and monitor inspectors and surveyors.
• Convene special meetings with service authorities, contractors and subcontractors.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of project records and as‑built drawings.
• Support safety goals and oversee implementation of safety procedures.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.

Required profile

• Fully qualified civil engineering professional with knowledge of utilities construction.
• Capability to act as Resident Engineer when required.

Required skills

• Review of shop drawings and method statements.
