Backend Engineer, Core APIs

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer focused on Core APIs to join a fully remote team that builds technology for detecting and preventing online fraud. The role involves designing, scaling and maintaining high‑performance backend systems that process data in real time and power critical API services for major technology companies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise scalable backend services for real‑time data processing and high‑throughput web APIs.
• Build, maintain and improve micro‑service architectures using Go and/or Node.js, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to integrate backend components and support rapid growth.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, performance tuning, debugging, testing and reliability enhancements.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation, providing timely incident response.
• Mentor junior developers and share best practices across a globally distributed organization.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of professional backend software development experience.
• Proven ability to build production‑grade systems and APIs.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and data‑driven decision making.
