Base Technical Representative (Aviation Maintenance)

About the role

The Base Technical Representative acts as Etihad Airways' primary liaison with the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider during aircraft downtime. Based in Abu Dhabi, this role ensures that all base maintenance activities meet regulatory standards and Etihad’s internal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Approve high‑cost material purchases on behalf of Etihad Airways.
• Review and validate engineering work performed by the MRO, ensuring compliance with regulations and Etihad standards.
• Authorize additional work, estimate man‑hours, and manage unscheduled tasks through the Additional Work Request procedure.
• Conduct audits of maintenance work on Etihad aircraft performed by the MRO.
• Serve as the first point of contact for the MRO and attend all relevant technical meetings.
• Coordinate, monitor, and drive activities between the MRO and Etihad, maintaining detailed records of reports, meetings, spares, and progress.
• Record and report KPIs for base maintenance as required by contractual agreements.
• Manage Aircraft Turn‑Around Time (TAT) to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or diploma/aircraft license with at least 3 years of aviation maintenance experience.
• Minimum 7 years in the aviation industry, including at least 2 years as a Technical Representative or Liaison Engineer.
• Strong understanding of aviation regulations, MRO processes, and Etihad’s technical standards.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
